A Bar Worth Bragging About

According to GQ Magazine there are 10 Things Every Man Should Know About Interior Design. Number 8: Have a Bar Worth Bragging About "You may want to hide the good stuff, but a solid bar display is an uncompromisable must-have. A bar cart or hutch is a stylish way to store your goods, but a simple serving tray on the countertop will perfectly suffice. Invest in a nice set of bar tools, at least one pair of nice wiskey glasses, and a few quality bottles of booze (at least for show)." Shown above is the photograph that accompanied this suggestion online. Pictured below is a photograph of the bar serving tray in our kitchen. The contents reflect what I like to mix. The gin, olives, and vermouth is for martinis. The Cointreau and Patron Citronge is for sidecars. Maybe I'll get a decorative decantor for the brandy that those require since I don't really care for the (unpictured) Christian Brothers VS bottle.

Sidecars

Had Warren over for dinner tonight. On Wednesday he's moving to California for a few months. Dale drank wine and Warren had his usual rum drink. I drank Side Cars. It's been about a year since I've made them.

Cocktail Hour Music for 1/25/14 - Radio Deluxe & Stacey Kent

Started listening to Radio Deluxe in the car when Noel was driving me home from our Saturday outing. Finished listening to the show with Dale during cocktail hour. Then put on Stacey Kent.

Cocktail Hour - January 18, 2014

Rum and Cokes tonight.

Prohibition

My friend Noel and I went to see the exhibit titled American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition at the Minnesota History Center and it was all very well done. The actual ax used by Carrie Nation was featured!

Drinks with Warren

Warren and I did happy hour at The Eagle again last evening. I drank rum and Cokes and Warren had his usual rum and soda water drink. Greg the bartender remembered our order from last time. What a memory. Afterward, Dale joined us at Warren's house for pizza from Pizza Luce. I switched to Tanqueray martinis.

Cocktails and Dinner at Warren's

Warren and I went to the Eagle for happy hour this past Friday. I drank rum and cokes. After HR he had Gary, Dale, and me over for cocktails and dinner. The food, as always, was fantastic. Dale had wine, Warren had his rum drink, and I had a Tanqueray martini (pictured). Gary wasn't drinking as he's on his January cleanse.
